KDE Plasma's Font Management Application "Font Install" Could Use Some Love

Recently over on Reddit's KDE Subreddit[1], a light was shown on KDE's font management application and that light revealved that not all was peachy in Plasma's font management department. The aptly-named 'Font Install', or 'Systemsettings : kcm_font' for those readers of a more technical variety, apparently is in need of some T.L.C. - and possibly a new maintainer as well.

As mentioned, this important component of Plasma's System Settings has numerous open bugs and a few noteworthy feature requests and request for improved defaults out of the box. Some of these bugs are fatal and in need of serious fixing, involving system crashes and similar freeze-ups that can ruin a user's experience. Some of these are very recent, some appear to be a few years old or older[2].
